Newcomer to US Checklist

Even though you get most of the stuff in US you might not have easy access to Indian stores in you first few days/weeks. So to make your life easy we have compiled a list of kitchen here are some items that you should bring with you from India

Kitchen Items:
  • Pressure cooker set with spare gasket
  • 1-2 pans
  • One Tava
  • One Kadai
  • Serving spoons - one or two
  • Sieve for tea
  • 2-3 plates (maybe paper if you don't want to carry too many heavy items)
  • 2-3 Cups and glasses
  • Roti rolling pin and base
  • Small rice cooker with 110v
  • 110v Mixie
  • Rice to last at least 2 weeks
  • Wheat flour
  • Some spices (masala)
  • 2-3 different kinds of Dal
  • Tea or Coffee
No need to bring potato, onion etc. as many US grocery stores are generally accessible and also you won't be able to get these past US agriculture check.

Clothes & Other Items:
  • Think like a tourist
  • Clothes (western mainly)
  • Light blanket
  • Spare shoes
  • Toothpaste and brush
  • Shaving items
  • Cash (dollars)
  • International credit card (visa, mastercard, Amex, discover)
